6.7.09 Gn22, Mt21

Genesis 22:
God told Abraham to offer his son as a burning sacrifice. Then the next morning, Abraham took his son, and two servants to the place where God had pointed. They stayed on the bottom of the mountain for three days, and on the third day, Abraham ordered his servants to stay and wait while he and Isaac go on to the mountain. They had taken with them the wood and the fire. On the way, Isaac asked Abraham why they took the tooks not the offering, Abraham replied saying that it would be provided by God. When they reached the place God had told them, Abraham built an altar, and bound his son on it, and was ready to slay him with the knife they brought and God's angel called him and told him not to slay his son. This was a test for God to see that Abraham was really God-fearing. Abraham found a ram nearby and offered it as an offering. Then angels appeared again telling him that because he had feared God, God would multiply him that his descendants would be as many as the stars in the sky. God blessed Abraham for he had obeyed him. Then they returned together.
Abraham's brother also had sons, both from his wife and his concubine.

Matthew 21:
Jesus was about to go into Jerusalem. He told two of his disciples to go into the city first and get him the donkey he was talking about. They brought over the donkey with its colt without any obstacles. The Jesus rode on the donkey and went into the city. As he was going in, people put cloak all along the road and others cut off tree branches to celebrate. They were all shouting Hosanna son of David. They all praised him. Jesus then went into the temple of the Lord and chased out all who were selling and buying things, for the temple is a place to praise the Lord. He healed the sick there.
The next morning, Jesus went to Bethany and was hungry, so he went to a fig tree but it didn't ahve any fruit for him to eat. They he said that the tree should not bear any fruit. Then the fig tree withered. The disciples asked why the fig tree withered so fast. Jesus said that if they have enough faith, not only was that possible, they could throw mountains into seas. Whatever was asked in prayer they would get.
When Jesus was teaching at the temple courts, the chief preists and the pharasees came and challenged him where he got the authority to teach.
